Introduction

Background Information

Our office is a state-of-the-art facility using modern technology including the use of in-office cone-beam (CBCT) imaging. Dr. Olsson is an experienced and well-respected surgeon who has been in practice for more than 25 years. He is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is well-known and highly-respected nationally and internationally.

Most outpatient procedures are performed in the office, however, more extensive surgery is performed in the same building as the office at Northwestern Memorial Hospital on the 5th floor of the Galter Pavilion making this a convenient option for patients who require advanced surgical care.

The specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery requires four or six additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As a Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Olsson manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and maxillofacial and craniofacial regions. Dr. Olsson practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective orthognathic jaw surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. Dr. Olsson can also diagnose and treat facial pain, and other facial injuries including soft tissue injuries and maxillofacial fractures.

The staff is trained in assisting with intravenous (IV) sedation and outpatient general anesthesia (GA) in our state-of-the-art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.

The office is equipped with a 3-D scanner to precisely detail the bony and soft tissue anatomy and to plan surgery in the computer environment with a high degree of precision and accuracy.

Surgical Staff

The surgical staff at Northwestern Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, PC are experienced, certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical Assistants (OMFSA), who assist in administration of IV sedation and surgery. We also have a trained registered nurse (RN) to assist in surgery. All staff are informed administrative personnel, well-versed in health and insurance policies, and are CPR certified.

Billing Department

The office has a billing manager who is responsible for billing and collection, and can assist you in 3rd party payment issues.

Resident Education and Training
