This office is horrible. I’ve tried to see Dr. Shah for a consultation. When I first called to schedule an appt., it was for Oct 8. I forgot to write it down, so I called the office to get the details. They said they didn’t have me in the system, but managed to find an opening for Sept. 24. I walked there (approx 30 mins) only to find out that Dr Shah wasn’t there and I didn’t have an appt. The nurse found my original appt for Oct 8, so I decided to keep it. Somehow, I start getting calls to see Dr. Emmerling on Oct 1. Confused, I explained that I have an appt on the 8th. The person on the phone said that I didn’t have an appt on the 8th. I said that I talked to the nurse when I scheduled and she confirmed that I have an appt on the 8th. She even checked all the systems. The person on the phone said that Dr. Shah is booked, but I can be squeezed in. (Thanks for squeezing me in when I’m supposed to have an appt). On the 7th, they call to confirm that I have an appt with Dr. Emmerling on the 8th. I was so livid at this point. I was audibly annoyed at how they’re handling this. They could only say “Sorry. We have new people. Do you want to see Dr. Emmerling?”. I said “No. I was referred to Shah. Shah is the one my Dr. recommended who specializes in the procedure I need.” “I’m sorry, but Shah does not specialize in that procedure.” What??? Why would my doctor lie about this? Considering the entire drama behind this, I hung up. I went back to my Dr and asked for a different referral as this office is incompetent. I’m now afraid of what would actually happen if I went through with the procedure with Shah.

Wonderful service and comfortable experience starting from the moment I walked in the door! I’ve been hesitant to schedule any type of oral procedure due to Covid-19 but could wait no longer. However, their safety procedures were on point. There is a no-wait policy so right when I got there, the administrative assistant greeted me at the door and took me directly to a patient room. Everyone I met were very professional and comfortable to be around. I was fortunate to get my procedure completed on the same day as my consultation. Dr. Olssen was wonderful. I loved his technique and especially liked that he explained everything he was doing (I was numb, not put under) and asked numerous times if I was doing okay. The procedure was explained to me thoroughly prior to getting it as well as the care instructions that would follow. I was reassured that if I needed anything, to call their 24/7 customer service line. To my surprise, Dr. Olssen called and left a voicemail for me this morning to make sure I was feeling okay. This was my first time getting a procedure done here and if I ever need another one I now know where to go. I definitely recommend Dr. Olssen and his team!

My beloved dermatologist Dr. Jillian Havey Swary recommended that I contact Dr. Alexis Olsson to remove a mucocele cyst I developed on my inside lower lip. The team at Northwestern Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons provided me with the best possible experience from beginning to end. Melissa at reception clearly explained the process and price, and helped schedule a consultation and procedure to suit my overbooked work and home life. The medical staff was caring, kind, and respectful—and patiently answered all my questions. Dr. Olsson has an excellent bedside manner to boot. The procedure itself was nice and easy and I left set up with the tools needed to heal. I can't recommend them enough. You may need to call a few times before getting things going, but I urge you to persist and see these magnificent people.

Dr. Markiewicz did jaw surgery on my 15 year old daughter last week. She had an aggressive benign tumor in her jaw. There was differing opinions as to what type of tumor that it was and Dr. Markiewicz sent it to several labs to get a definitive answer. My daughter needed her jaw reconstructed and he arranged an amazing team of doctors along with himself to take care of her. It was a very long surgery about 12 hours. A week later, she is home recovering and doing very well. We were so fortunate to get her care from Dr. Markiewicz. He answered our many, many questions about the surgery and was patient and supportive to our whole family.

My daughter (12) was diagnosed with a very large aggressive tumor on her lower jaw that required her to have jaw reconstruction after removing it. She had a fibula free flap under the microscope to reconstruct her jaw. Despite the long surgery (about 12hrs) and some of the physical changes, her recovery has been amazing. After some month she is back to her normal activities including Tae Kwon do. I’m super happy and pleased with the care she received while at the hospital and couldn't be happier with the service and the quality of the doctors that treated my daughter, especially Dr.Markiewicz that has been monitoring her since day I, not only on the medical part, but also on the emotional part during her recovery. Dr.Markiewicz has been key in my daughter’s recovery, and has been there for her when needed. Amazing doctor, very approachable and goes the extra mile for his patients.
